About
Who Is The Sane Adventurer?
I am! I, Robert Devlin, now a 50+ year old businessman who has had the opportunity to travel for work and also for pleasure with my family. I have been to 45 of the 50 US states and to several countries around the world. Not as many places as some travelers, but probably more than others.

To be honest though, I have always had a love for travel. As a child I loved to read stories of other lands and peoples. Growing up in Russell, Kansas a town of 5000 people, travel consisted of going to Wichita, Denver or maybe as far as Grand Junction, Colorado. So, I never dreamed I would actually get to see as much of the world as I have. Now with my family quickly approaching adulthood, I am also sharing my love of travel with them. It is great to see them gaze with wonder at new cities and places. They are often reminded of them when in school that are asked by the teacher, “Do you know what this building is ?” and my daughter said, “It is the Colosseum”. The teacher then asked, “How do you know that? and the reply was “I’ve been there!” They recognize places they have been and buildings toured with a greater perspective of the world they live in.
I now live in South Carolina and am still planning new adventures. I am an avid amateur photographer and striving to get better with composition and lighting. Today’s digital cameras make it much easier to take our vacations home with us and relive our travels.
My desire on this blog is to share with you the passion I have for travel and to share some of my learnings, plus misadventures I have had. I hope readers will be inspired and travel more too. Our lives are short so we indeed need to make the most of it. As a lifetime learner, I also appreciate feedback from readers, their perspectives and suggestions. I am happy for typographical corrections too. As I tell my Facebook friends, stop back and re-read in a few weeks to months. Likely, I will have re-read too and polished a few times.
