Barcelona is a wonderful Spanish city but after going hard for 2-3 days straight, or if you have “been there, done that”, then try a bit of relaxing time in the Lloret de Mar area.

The LLoret De Mar area is just over an hour northeast of Barcelona. It can be accessed via car or a quick train ride from Barcelona to Blanes with a connecting short bus hop or taxi to LLoret De Mar.
I was introduced to the area while on business as it is also close to Palafolls, Spain. LLoret De Mar, while busy in summer, seems to be a tranquil respite from the hopping tourism of Barcelona. While you are in Lloret be sure to walk around and enjoy the sights.
I stayed at the Hotel Santa Marta which has dramatic views of the Mediterranean sea. It is also located in a quiet location away from crowds. The staff are inviting and the meals are delicious. Couple that with some Spanish wines and/or beer with some local Marcona almonds and you are on the way to having a great day.
